12 easy rules for SEO

Posted: 23 Dec 09 at 09:12

Search engine optimization specialist Kevin Gibbons has devoted his blog before Christmas to 12 Days of SEO. It's not a funny piece, and it certainly doesn't have to be read just for Christmas, but it is really useful for anyone who's not clear about how to get those search engines taking notice.

There are several points that Kevin makes about good writing, and I would agree with him 100%. These are the highlights with my views included.

On your web site, be eloquent, intelligent accurate, says Kevin, and ensure your words are accessible to people as well as search engines.

Make sure your content is unique. If you copy from other sources and you'll be found out by the search engines and quite likely your customers.

Make your content on web sites, in press releases and elsewhere relevant to your audience.

Keep your blogs simple, easy to read, and clear. And don't neglect good grammar and spelling simply because you're in a hurry.

If you struggle with any of these, find a writer to help! And meanwhile enjoy the holiday.
